Speed Control - Check

Ok check off the Speed controler, Fed Ex just delivered it today.  It's bigger than my old one but much thinner.  Of course KGV has plenty of room so that is just a side note and not a problem.  Now to find the time...........

Re: Speed Control - Check

Did you ever find out how much current that controller can take? Is it reversable?

Re: Speed Control - Check

7.2 to 12 volts, forward 50amps, reverse 20 amps (so yes it is reversable).  BEC output is 6VDC, 1 amp max.

With that kind of capacity you could just about race with it.

Re: Speed Control - Check

HOLY $#!+!  That is a nice little speed controller for the price - and waterproof too. I guess ESCs have come along a lot in the last year or so. Good find William

Re: Speed Control - Check

I just checked the link and it does look very nice looking and at only $40 it's a steal.  I would definitely consider that one if I were to build another tugboat.  I have no idea what I would use for motors though.  One thing that makes me wonder is if it calibrates itself to the range of the throttle channel on every startup?  That would make using throttle curves a must to limit your ship's speed.  IE one curve for startup/initializing the ESC and a second for operations.  I also wonder how efficient it is at low throttle percents.
