A box for a boat....
Spent yesterday working on building a storage and carrying case for Missouri. It's almost ready, but I forgot to take any pictures. This case fits the boat snugly and securely, allowing me to store the boat where the cats cannot get at it, haul the boat in the open bed of my truck without worrying about the wind, and use the case as a workbench, or as a pondside seat (it is strong enough). I left the boat hull and box at my friend's workshop (where we built it) to let the lacquer dry. In a few days, I'll go pick it up and take some good pictures to show off the design and operation.

Very nice. How much does everything weigh?
Re: A box for a boat.... **Update - with pictures
I haven't yet put everything together in the box - I'm still mounting latches and lift points. The top fits very snugly into the base, and takes fair effort to lift out. I'll give a weight estimate once I have one. It may weigh a fair bit all together (60lbs or so, including the 45 of the boat), but it will help keep the boat safe from the cats when I am not working on it, and will permit me to easily transport it in my truck - plus providing me with a work bench pondside.

Looks very nice but I think I would have used larger wheels. From my experiences with my first RC cart build, I hope you have a full axle for the wheels or your cart might break like my first one did. Although, I think my cart was probably heavier than yours and was treated pretty roughly. This kind of makes me want to post pictures of my cart.

WOW! A boat box that doubles as a dry dock, I mean work station.
Nifty!

The box works great for protecting the boat but makes it a bit harder to move the boat around. Adding wheels was a great idea.
There was one day we had Gneisenau (in its box) strapped to the roof of Mike's car. We had never tried moving it on the roof of his car so we were going very slowly. Eventually we had a long line of cars behind us. So Mike pulled into the first parking lot we came across to let everyone by. Car after car drove past us giving us the most intense looks of curiousity and distain. Mike was confused as to why we were getting the stares... at least until I started laughing and pointed to the sign for the business whose parking lot we had pulled into... a funeral home. The other motorists assumed we were moving a casket - an obviously used and very battered casket!

LOL! Where is that pond at? Looks nice!
Re: A box for a boat.... **Update - with pictures
About two miles west of the dead center of the middle of nowhere. Great pond, great setting, impossible to get to.

That is one of the ponds we have permission to use in the National Forest west of Blacksburg. One of the other ponds at this location is actually a lot better for battles. However, Charles is right - the location is remote. There is a very nice and affordable campground (actually cheaper than Alta-Mons) around the corner but for people coming for the day it is a haul.
