August 2010 Meet (Gallery)
The above picture is from the end of the day - after Lion Cub's batteries had finally run down. Huntington gave the battlecruiser a push back to port.
All these pictures were taken at the August 2010 Target Pratice. Actually... they were really taken after the target pratice when I realized no one remembered to take any pictures. Several ships are completely missing from the pictures as are some of the attendees. Sorry.
MABG Target Practice on Saturday
Poor weather, accidents and illness delayed our August target-practice until late in the day. In what was one of the worst stokes of bad luck we've seen in years both Battleships Lion and Missouri were severely damaged en-route to the meet and could not participate. However, Huntington, KGV and Lion Cub spent several hours on the water working out the kinks.
Battlecruiser Lion (cub) checked out well and performed reasonable well for a shake down cruise. She appears to have a very slow leak CO2 somewhere which was undetectable except for the bottle frosting and the guns firing soft. Some old rusting ammo quickly made that unimportant anyway.
The boat proved very dry on the water so we poured some water into the hull to verify that the new pump wiring (including water sensing circuit) was working correctly.
Despite William's protests KGV's cannons fired well all day once the new safety valve was in. KGV is definitely the show boat of the club these days - running reliably meet after meet and looking good the whole time. It is definitely a testimony to William's shipbuilding prowess.
Huntington was sporting her new target practice armor (aka: foam cooler). The little tug was recently fitted with new motors which push the ship harder and faster than the water can move out of the way. It really does a great impersonation of a submarine. I think everyone agreed that having a fleet tug will be a great help.
Task Force 50 Regatta on Sunday
Diana, Kyle and I tried to catch some of the Task Force 50 Regatta in York Pennsylvania on Sunday. Unfortunately we arrived after most of the people had packed up to leave. Here are a few pictures we took.
