Gneisenau Close-up

Gneisenau at the July 24, 2004 battle at Camp Alta-Mons. At this point the ship is owned by Mike. This ship has a special place in my heart as it was the first ship I even owned. At this point the old ship is starting to show its age (14 years of battle when the picture was taken). However, in its prime this ship was a sight to see.

The superstructures of our ships are now usually built using foam materials that were no available when Gneisenau was built in 1992. This picture shows why older ships rarely included many scale details... they simply do not hold up to cannon fire.
